Sailing is our sport!
The Sailing Club Split (JK Split) is one of the most renowned sailing clubs in Croatia. It was founded with the aim of promoting sailing and organizing sailing activities. Our home is in the popular harbor known as “Lučica,” and we are often called “Lučičari.”
Since its establishment in 1950, we have achieved numerous sporting successes, including appearances at the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024.
Currently, around 55 sailors actively compete in small boat classes, and our sailing school for children is the largest in the city.
The classes in which we compete in regattas include: Optimist, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and ILCA 7. Additionally, we support the Moth, Šljuka, and all other classes in which our members regularly sail and compete in regattas.
Our club is also home to five Melges 24 crews, making up nearly a quarter of the Croatian Melges 24 fleet, all based in Lučica.
In addition to small boat and M24 sailing, our club boasts a strong fleet of racing cruisers that are essential competitors in regattas both in Croatia and beyond!
Our mission is to provide top conditions for training and competitions while fostering the development of young sailors. Our vision is to become a recognized club on the international sailing scene and contribute to the growth of sailing as a sport in Croatia.
The Sailing Club Split organizes a Sailing and Maritime Skills School for children and invites all interested kids and their parents to apply.
The program covers the fundamentals of sailing and maritime skills, designed to introduce young participants to the world of sailing in a way tailored to their age. It includes both theoretical and practical training, conducted on Optimist-class sailboats, ensuring that children learn in a simple and fun way.
The topics covered in the school include:
This program provides an excellent foundation for young sailors to develop their skills and passion for the sport!
We are in the process of establishing a Sailing School for Adults. Currently, no club in the city offers the opportunity to learn sailing if you haven’t started from a young age.
Our goal is to provide all participants with the chance to acquire sailing and seamanship skills in a comfortable, enjoyable, and affordable way.
The Sailing Club SPLIT has a long and strong tradition in sailing in the ILCA (formerly Laser) class.
Back in 1991, Mladen Makjanić won a bronze medal at the Laser World Championship, which was not only a historic achievement for the club but also the first-ever medal for the Republic of Croatia in any sport.
We have an impressive fleet of racing keelboats representing our club in regattas across Croatia and beyond.
Notable regular competitors defending the club’s colors in keelboat regattas include: Viga, Adriatica, Clockwork, Overload, Rocketa, Blue Lady 2, Burnica, Erco D, Piccolo Grande Amore, Mutni II, Mali Medo, Spyridia, Joly, Ančica, My Way 2, Amari, and many others.
In the Melges 24 class, our club is proudly represented by Razjareni, Universitas Nova, Sugar Daddy, The Pimp, and Little A.
