ORGANISERS: Sailing club “Split” and Croatian Sailing Federation (CSF)

1. RULES

1.1. The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2025-2028 (RRS), Optimist class rules, Sailing instructions (SI).
1.2. Boats will be divided into fleets if there are more than 80 entries.
1.3. Croatian prescriptions will apply only for members of the Croatian Sailing Federation (CSF).
1.4. If there is a conflict between languages the Croatian text will take precedence
1.5. If there is a conflict between RRS and SI, SI will take precedence
1.6. Competitor is universal term describing “helmsman”, “athlete” and/or “competitor” mean a person competing or intending to compete in the regatta

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1. The event is open to all boats of Optimist class with helmsman born in 2010 or after.
2.2. Entries may be submitted on the event web page: jk-split.hr/en/phopt2025/entry, no later than 29.08.2025.
2.3. Late entries may be accepted with payment of a double entry fee.
2.4. Entry shall be paid via bank transfer to club account open at Zagrebačka banka d.d.,
IBAN: HR4923600001101458350, SWIFT: ZABAHR2X, with payment description: „STARTNINA PH OPTIMIST“.

3. ADVERTISING

3.1. Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

4. SECURITY

4.1. Every competitor shall always wear a personal flotation device when afloat except briefly while changing or adjusting clothing or personal equipment.
4.2. Wet suits and dry suits are not personal flotation devices.
4.3. Every competitor shall always be equipped with whistle.
4.4. Support person must inform RO in the case some of the competitors will not sail out or if some competitor is abandoning sailing area before ending of race via VHF radio. Notice is not transmited until RO confirm the notice.

7. MEASUREMENT

All boats shall be available for equipment inspection before registration as provided in NoR 6.1, and each boat shall verify the existence of a valid measurement certificate.

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Sailing instructions will be available on official notice board.

9. RACING AREA

Racing area will be in the Kaštela bay or in Split channel.
Addendum 1 shows the location of the racing areas.

10. COURSES

Optimist trapezoid course will be used.

11. FORMAT

11.1. In case of large number of entries, boats will be divided in fleets. Tentative number of boats in the each fleet will be as follows:
u to 80 boats one fleet
from 81 up to 160 two fleets
from 161 up to 240 three fleets
etc…
Organizer can change the size of fleet based on number of registered participants.

11.2. In case of more than one fleet series format will consist of qualification and final series. All fleets shall complete at least 4 races before the start of the final series.
12. SCORING
12.1. Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
12.2. When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

13. RADIO COMMUNICATION

While racing, except in an emergency, a boat shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.

14. PRIZES

14.1. CSF will award medals to:
– boys (champion, vice-champion, bronze)
– girls (champion, vice-champion, bronze)
– overall (champion, vice-champion, bronze)
14.2. SC Split will award prizes for Open Croatian Championship for three top ranked sailors in following fleets: boys, girls, boys under 12, girls under 12.
14.3. U12 results will be determined by the series score in the overall competition and will be extracted from overall results without recalculation.

15. TITLES

* this article apply for Croatian sailors only, members of Croatian Sailing Federation.

16. RISK STATEMENT

16.1. RRS 3 states: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.’ By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks . Organiser will accept responsibility for any material damage or physical injury or death prior, while or after the event

17. RIGHTS TO USE PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO MATERIALS

17.1. Participants, as well as all persons who follow the regatta in the media, visitors, coaches and other persons who have recorded media content, grant the organizer and sponsors of the regatta full right and permission to dispose of and/or publish in electronic media in any way, either photographs or recorded material of persons or sailing boats during the regatta, including, but not limited to, TV commercials and anything that can be used for their own needs or for publishing, advertising and promotional materials.

18. BEHAVIOR OF THE ACCOMPANYING VESSEL AND THE PERSON IN THE ACCOMPANIMENT

18.1. All persons operating the accompanying vessel must have a valid boat operating license, which they must show upon request by the organizing body.
18.2. At all times when the engine of the vessel is running, the persons on board must use (the rope must be attached to the person’s body or to the clothing of the accompanying person) the engine kill-cord.
18.3. Each support vessel must be equipped with a radio station.
18.4. All persons on support vessels must wear a life jacket at all times while at sea, except during changing.
18.5. Support vessels must not pass through the sailing area. The sailing area is defined as the maximum area in which sailing can take place, if sailing on standard courses, increased on each side by 100m, as shown in Appendix 2 to this notice.
18.6. The waiting zone is 100m downwind (below) the start line.
18.7. The organizer will define the schedule for the escort vessel to be taken out according to the distance of the competitor’s home club from Lučica Split, and the specifics of transportation to the home club.
